Wendy Red Star: New work

National Portrait Gallery, Washington, DC

Opening Fall 2027

Production | Acquisition Grant

The Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery has commissioned MacArthur Fellow Wendy Red Star (Apsáalooke) to create a new large-scale, site-specific sculpture to premiere in conjunction with the National Portrait Gallery’s presentation of “Wendy Red Star: Whispering Spirit” (working title). The new commission will align with the artist’s practice of creating work that entangles past and present, individual and collective, local and national.
