MOCA Tucson offers engaging programming with a focus on major new commissions, an artist residency, and far-reaching education programs. With a particular focus on regional sociopolitical themes, MOCA’s programming is designed to encourage empathy between a diverse group of artists and audiences. Executive Director Kate Green aims to steer the museum’s focus towards the exploration of critical social questions pertaining to migration, borderlands, and indigeneity, notably exemplified through upcoming projects by Pia Camil, Rafa Esparza, and Cecilia Vicuna. MOCA is currently the only museum in Arizona and the binational Sonoran Desert region dedicated to contemporary art and serves as an integral hub for contemporary art in the American Southwest.
