Project X Foundation for Art and Criticism: X-TRA Volume 20 Number 4

X-TRA is a quarterly artist-centered publication and the longest running critical art journal in Los Angeles. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, X-TRA has developed programming for each issue over the past year to address their legacy in expanding contemporary art criticism and discourse in Los Angeles. VIA Art Fund is proud to have supported their Summer 2018 issue, including a newly commissioned essay by Pope.L as part of their Artist Writes series, an Artist’s Project by Carmen Argote, and a review by artist Candice Lin on three works from Pacific Standard Time LA/LA. As a symbolic gesture, twenty artists participated in a special 20th anniversary project, taking after the X-TRA Sketchbook issue of Summer 2002, with drawings by Merriem Bennani, Danielle Dean, Simone Forti, Galeria Perdida, Liz Magic Laser, Adam Linder, Kelly Nipper, and many more.
